Asalamu alaykum
With the help of Allah (swt) and our volunteers on the ground, Amoud Foundation for Horn of Africa has successfully completed the Odhiya/Qurbani Program 2012 funded by Somali Relief and Amoud Foundation. Amoud Foundation volunteers distributed meat in the three days of Eid to 2051 families. Among them were internally displaced peoples, orphans, prisoners and patients of hospitals in Borama who needed this qurbani. Since the time was very short for us and the plan was to distribute meat in Eid days, we were able to deliver the meat only to the pastoral communities in Awdal region who deserve it.
Due to the long term drought in the region, the price of the animal has doubled; we bought most of the animals slaughtered from Ethiopia and remote villages. The qurbani was distributed by a team of volunteers led by Abdiwahab Ege, the representative of Amoud Foundation in Somaliland and Djibouti. In short, May Almighty Allah grant reward to those who sacrificed and those who delivered to the people in need and may forgive our short comings.
Somaliland:
Goat/sheep 239 x $81(price of the animal) = $19359
Slaughtering/labor/media/boards 239x $4 = $956
Cows 9 x $350(price of animal) = $3150
Grand total------------------------------------- = $23465
Beneficiaries=2151(families x6)=12906 persons.
Mogadishu/Central. Somalia:
Meat was distributed to more than 880 families, close to 5000 people including orphans, elderly, poor, hospital patients, people in jails, and internal displaced people (IDP) in Somalia. There are hundreds of thousands of needy people in this part of the world, but we tried our best to reach the neediest of all. We distributed meat on behalf of Amoud Foundation and Somalia Relief in Mogadishu, the capital of the Somalia, Galkayo, Himan Saharir, Sadeh-Higlo, and Harhaar.
The cost of animal has doubled since last year in Galkayo. We bought some of the animals from nearby villages. The Qurbani Udhiya program was arranged and distributed by a team led by Sheikh Abdulkaqir Adnaan, the head of Nawawi Welfare Society. Most of these men, who worked tirelessly for more than a week, did so for the sake of Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. They declined any compensation for their work.
May Allaah reward those who donated, whose who collected and those who distributed til the judgement day.
